Lake Fayette is one of Central Texas's best-kept bass secrets — a 2,400-acre power-plant lake that stays warm year-round, tucked just south of Fayetteville off FM 2145. Whether you're launching from Oak Thicket Park or Park Prairie, here's what the locals actually do — and what to grab at the Shamrock before you go.
LCRA's north-side park on Lake Fayette — 58 campsites, a lighted fishing pier, boat ramp, and swim beach. Best for families and anglers who want to camp within casting distance of the water. Reservations fill up on holiday weekends.
The bigger of the two LCRA parks with 71 campsites, a large day-use area, and the most-used boat ramp on the lake. Points and coves off Park Prairie are the go-to for tournament bass anglers throwing the warm-water discharge in winter.

The warm-water discharge on the south end is the winter magnet. When the plant is running, bait stacks up and bass follow. LCRA posts closures — check before you go.
Anyone 17+ needs a TPWD freshwater fishing license. Slot limits on Lake Fayette bass are strict — 14–21" must be released. Bring a tape measure.
